Do you belong to the new cadre of distributor such as postal agents, retired government and semi- government officials (class III and above or equivalent), retired teachers and retired bank officers with a service of at least 10 years, and other similar persons (such as Bank correspondents), and want to apply for a AMFI Registration Number (ARN)?

EUIN issued to the employees would remain same, even if they change their employment and join some other ARN holder for selling/ marketing Mutual Fund products. However, for effecting such change in AMFI's records, the employees are required to submit duly filled in form for mapping EUIN.

ARN holders / EUIN holders are required to apply for renewal of ARN/ EUIN on or six months prior to expiry of validity period of ARN/ EUIN. If the renewal application is submitted prior to expiry of validity period of ARN/ EUIN and the same is found in order, there would be continuity in the validity period of ARN/ EUIN, post renewal. If the renewal application is submitted after expiry of ARN/ EUIN, validity of renewed ARN/ EUIN would commence from the date of submission of renewal application and would be valid up to the validity date mentioned on the NISM passing certificate/ CPE Certificate, in case of individual/ senior citizens/ employees.

This examination seeks to create a common minimum knowledge benchmark for all persons involved in selling and distributing mutual funds including:

  2. Employees of organizations engaged in sales and distribution of Mutual Funds
  3. Employees of Asset Management Companies specially persons engaged in sales and distribution of Mutual Funds
  4. The certification aims to enhance the quality of sales, distribution and related support services in the mutual fund industry.

NISM-Series¬V-B: Mutual Fund Foundation Certification Examination

This examination seeks to create common minimum knowledge benchmark for new cadre of mutual fund distributors, as per SEBI circular CIR/IMD/DF/21/2012 dated September 13, 2012, involved in selling and distributing simple and performing mutual fund schemes:

  1. Postal agents
  2. Retired government and semi-government officials (class III and above or equivalent) with a service of at least 10 years
  3. Retired teachers with a service of at least 10 years
  4. Retired bank officers with a service of at least 10 years, and other similar persons (such as Bank correspondents) as may be notified by AMFI/AMC from time to time
  5. The certification aims to enhance the quality of sales, distribution and related support services in the mutual fund industry.

NISM-Series-V-C: Mutual Fund Distributors (Level 2) Certification Examination

This examination seeks to create a common knowledge benchmark for associated persons, i.e., distributors, agents or any persons employed or engaged or to be employed or engaged in the sale and/or distribution of mutual fund products and advisory functions, in order to enable a better understanding of features of advanced mutual fund products, fund valuation, fund performance measurements, investor service and related regulations.

NISM has specified the NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination as the mandated certification examination for distributors, agents or any persons employed or engaged or to be employed or engaged in the sale and/or distribution of mutual fund products vide NISM communiqué NISM/Certification/Series-V-A: MFD/2010/01 dated May 05, 2010. SEBI has further mandated the same vide notification No. LAD-NRO/GN/2010-11/09/6422 dated May 31, 2010.

NISM’s higher level examination is for those candidates who wish to assess themselves against higher standards of overall expertise related to mutual funds sales, distribution and advisory functions.

The NISM-Series-V-C: Mutual Fund Distributors (Level 2) Certification Examination is suitable for:

  1. Mutual fund distributors and agents
  2. Persons employed or engaged in the sale and/or distribution of mutual fund products
  3. Persons to be employed or engaged in the sale and/or distribution of mutual fund products
  4. Students interested in gaining advanced knowledge of mutual fund products, sales, distribution and related regulations

This examination seeks to create a common minimum knowledge benchmark for all associated persons registered as an investment adviser and partners and representatives of investment advisers under SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013 and offering investment advisory services.

NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination is the level 1 examination.

An associated person shall be required to pass both the levels (i.e. NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination and NISM-Series-X-B: Investment Adviser (Level 2) Certification Examination) to fulfillthe requirements under Regulation 7(2) of the SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013.

NISM Series-XV: Research Analyst Certification Examination

This examination seeks to create a common minimum knowledge benchmark for all associated persons registered as research analyst under SEBI (Research Analyst) Regulations, 2014, individuals employed as research analyst and partners of a research analyst, engaged in preparation and/or publication of research report or research analysis.

An associated person shall be required to pass the NISM-Series-XV: Research Analyst Certification Examination to fulfill the requirements specified under Regulation 7(2) of the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014.

The certification aims to enhance the quality of services provided by research analyst in the financial services industry.

NISM-Series-XVII: Retirement Adviser Certification Examination

This Examination seeks to create a common minimum knowledge benchmark for individuals, proprietors, partners and representatives of a retirement adviser registered under PFRDA (Retirement Adviser) Regulations, 2016.

PFRDA circular (PFRDA/2016/14/CORP/02) dated June 28, 2016 specifies that “any individuals, proprietors, partners, trustees, members and representatives of the entity, acting or desirous of acting as retirement adviser under the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (Retirement Adviser) Regulations, 2016 shall obtain the certification from the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) by passing “NISM-Series-XVII: Retirement Adviser Certification Examination” to become eligible for grant of certificate of registration as a retirement adviser, besides fulfilling other terms and conditions mentioned in the regulations.

The certification aims to enhance the quality of services provided by retirement adviser in the financial services industry.

NISM-Series-XVIII: Financial Education Certification Examination+

This examination is created for those candidates who wish to assess their financial literacy and their understanding of various aspects of financial markets including banking, securities, insurance and pension.

It seeks to ensure a basic understanding of the various aspects of an individual’s and/or a household’s financial planning by enhancing their financial literacy. This examination covers key concepts in financial literacy, various investment options, savings and investment products, insurance and pension, retirement planning, stock market, caution against Ponzi schemes, tax savings options, investor protection and investor grievance redressal.
